I am a lifelong obsessive about painting, but it was only in 2011 that I decided to fulfil my ambition of beginning a Fine Art degree. I am currently on the third year of my degree at the University of Hull, Scarborough Campus.
My influences stem from the Northern Renaissance, particularly artists such as Hans Holbein the Younger, and Jan van Eyck. Contemporary artists I would cite include Antony Williams, Sarah Graham and Jonathan Yeo. I find the challenge of still life irresistible, yet I am drawn to the capturing of likeness through portraiture.
I am conscious that the quality of construction and materials make a difference to the finished painting. With this in mind I prepare my own painting surfaces and use quality materials.
